In short: Sift’s Frame.io connection (Sift 1.0.12 and later) signs in through Adobe as you, sees only the projects your account can see, and searches the ones you choose by what’s on screen (Visual) and what’s said (Spoken), next to the footage on your drives. Sift reads names and basic details and works from Frame.io’s small preview copies; originals are downloaded only when you send a clip to your editor or download it, after Sift asks. Faces in Frame.io footage are never used for recognition. It’s included in the $99 a year.

No editor needed. Sift works on its own as a desktop app on Mac and Windows: search, preview, build Selects and share footage by link without opening an editor. The editor panels are optional.

What it does.

What it doesn’t.

No face search on Frame.io footage: Adobe’s developer terms forbid identifying people in it, and Sift’s terms say so too. It isn’t available in mainland China or Russia. It isn’t a replacement for Frame.io’s own review tools. Each computer signs in with its own Adobe account; there’s no shared team index yet. If something doesn’t work, email support@siftclips.com.

Privacy

Sift signs in through Adobe and stores the sign-in on your computer. It reads project, folder and file names and basic details such as length and frame rate, and downloads Frame.io’s small preview copies to index them, then deletes them. Originals are downloaded to your computer only when you ask. See the privacy page for the full list.

Trademarks

Adobe and Frame.io are either registered trademarks or trademarks of Adobe in the United States and/or other countries. Sift Clips is independent and not affiliated with or endorsed by Adobe.

Questions

Does Sift download my originals?

Only when you send a clip to your editor or choose Download, and Sift asks first, showing the size and where it will be saved. It downloads the whole original once and reuses it. Searching works from Frame.io’s small preview copies.

Does it cost extra?

No. Free for 3 days or 25 searches. No card.
