People
Name them once. Find them everywhere.
Sift groups the faces in your footage. Click a face, type a name, and that person is searchable in every clip, including footage you add later.
In short: Sift’s People feature recognizes faces in your video and photos on your computer and groups them. Once you name someone, you can search for them by name, or combine a name with a description like “Tricia laughing” or with other people to find shots of them together.
No editor needed. Sift works on its own as a desktop app on Mac and Windows: search, preview, build Selects and share footage by link without opening an editor. The editor panels are optional.
How it works.
- Sync
Add your footage. Sift finds and groups faces as it indexes.
- Name
Open People, click a face and type a name. Or add someone from a photo.
- Search
Type their name, alone or with a description, or pick several people to find them together.
Why editors use it.
Find every shot of the couple, the speaker or the subject in minutes.
“Mike on stage” or “Ashley and Jay” work the way you’d say them.
Named people are recognized in new footage automatically.
Faces are processed and stored on your computer.
Questions
Is face recognition perfect?
No. It’s very good at grouping clear faces; side profiles, distance and low light can be missed. You can fix groups in People.
Are faces uploaded anywhere?
No. Face grouping runs and stays on your computer.
Does it work on photos?
Yes, on photos and video in the folders you sync.
