More like this
Found the shot? Find more like it.
Start from one frame and Sift finds the footage that looks like it: the same kind of composition, light and setting, across every drive you sync.
In short: Sift compares the picture of one frame with every frame in your library and shows the clips that look most alike, closest first. Start from any result in Sift with More like this, or from the frame in Adobe Premiere’s Source or Program monitor or DaVinci Resolve’s timeline with Match in the Sift panel. The shot you started from is left out, and you always see at least 12 different clips.
No editor needed. Sift works on its own as a desktop app on Mac and Windows: search, preview, build Selects and share footage by link without opening an editor. The editor panels are optional.
How it works.
- Land on a shot
Pause on a frame in Sift’s viewer, or park on it in Premiere or Resolve.
- Match it
Click More like this in Sift, or Match › Source or Program in the panel.
- Pick
Scrub the matches, save them to Selects, or put them on the timeline.
Why editors use it.
Sift matches the moment you’re parked on, not the first frame of the clip.
In Premiere: Source monitor or Program monitor. In Resolve: the clip under the playhead.
A clip Sift hasn’t indexed can still be matched from the frame you’re on.
Results are one card per clip, so a single take doesn’t fill the page.
Questions
Which version do I need?
Match in the Premiere and Resolve panels needs Sift 1.0.6 or later. Update from Sift’s account menu.
Does it count as a search during the free trial?
Yes. Each match counts as one search, like any other.
Does it work in Final Cut Pro or Avid?
In Final Cut Pro, yes (Sift 1.0.12 and later): drag a clip from Final Cut’s browser onto the Sift panel and choose Find similar. Not in Avid yet: use More like this in the Sift app.
Does it look at color grades or effects?
It matches the original footage at that moment, not the graded picture in the Program monitor.
