Sift

Comparison

Sift vs Jumper.

Jumper is an established footage search tool for four editors. Sift is a Mac and Windows app where named people, AI assistants and a free shared link come with the one price.

Free for 3 days or 25 searches. No card.
Apple Silicon Mac, macOS 15+ · Windows 10/11

In short: Jumper and Sift both search by picture and speech on your computer, run on Mac and Windows, keep analyzed footage on unplugged drives searchable, and connect to AI assistants. Both work inside Premiere, DaVinci Resolve and Final Cut Pro; Jumper also works inside Avid Media Composer. If you cut in Avid, start with Jumper. On Jumper, face recognition, people search and AI agents are in Jumper Pro; Sift includes named people, Claude and ChatGPT, Selects and one free shared link in its $99 a year.

No editor needed. Sift works on its own as a desktop app on Mac and Windows: search, preview, build Selects and share footage by link without opening an editor. The editor panels are optional.

It depends on the plan. Jumper is sold per seat, bought once with a year of updates, and named people and AI agents are in Jumper Pro. Sift is $99 a year with everything included. Check Jumper’s pricing page for current prices.

Do both run locally?

Yes. Both analyze and search footage on your computer.

Can both search a drive that isn’t plugged in?

Yes. Both keep previously analyzed footage searchable; plug the drive back in to open or import the clip.
