In short: Corporate video teams can index their shoot folders in Sift, then find reusable shots by description, executives by name, and quotes by their words, and send selects to stakeholders as a link that plays on any phone.

No editor needed. Sift works on its own as a desktop app on Mac and Windows: search, preview, build Selects and share footage by link without opening an editor. The editor panels are optional.

The problem.

In-house teams and agencies shoot the same offices, products and executives again and again. The footage exists; it’s on a drive nobody remembers, or in a project that’s been archived.

When you don’t need it.

A team with a managed asset system, shared storage and rights tracking already has what Sift lacks. Sift fits editors and small teams whose footage lives on drives and projects.

A workflow that fits.

  1. Add shoot folders

Point Sift at the drives or folders used for brand shoots.

  2. Name the people

    Executives, spokespeople and recurring talent.

  3. Search before you reshoot

“Warehouse, forklift, wide shot” or “CEO at podium”.

  4. Share for sign-off

Share a Selects group as a link only the people you invite can open.

What helps most.

Reuse, not reshoot

Find existing B-roll and interview bites quickly.

Executives by name

Find a specific person across all shoots.

Quick stakeholder review

A link, no app or account for the viewer.

Local

Footage isn’t uploaded to be searched, which helps when it’s unreleased.

Questions

Is it a digital asset manager?

Can several people use one library?

A license covers one computer at a time. Teams that need shared libraries should look at asset managers; see the comparison pages.

What does it cost?

$99 a year per computer. Free for 3 days or 25 searches. No card.
