Sift

Use case

Schools and teams: every season, searchable.

Game after game and year after year of photos and video. Find the moment for the yearbook, the banquet or the highlight reel.

Free for 3 days or 25 searches. No card.
Apple Silicon Mac, macOS 15+ · Windows 10/11

In short: School and team media staff can add each season’s folders to Sift, name the people they need most, and search by description or name across photos and video. Search runs on their computer, and picks can be shared by link.

No editor needed. Sift works on its own as a desktop app on Mac and Windows: search, preview, build Selects and share footage by link without opening an editor. The editor panels are optional.

The problem.

Sports and school events produce huge numbers of similar shots, and the archive is sorted by date at best. Finding one student across four years means opening a lot of folders.

When you don’t need it.

If you only need this week’s game sorted and delivered, your usual culling tool is the faster choice. Sift is for finding things across seasons.

A workflow that fits.

  1. Add each season

Add folders or drives by season or year.

  2. Name who matters

Name players or students once, within your school’s consent rules.

  3. Search the moment

“Team celebrating at the final whistle”, or a name plus a description.

  4. Share the picks

Send a link families or staff can view and download from.

What helps most.

Find one person across years

Name them once, then check the matches.

Video too

Search game footage by what’s on screen and interviews by what was said.

Fast look-backs

Old seasons stay searchable even when the drive is unplugged.

Sensible limits

Free link: 100 photos for 3 days. Plans start at $29 a month.

Questions

Will it recognize players in helmets or at a distance?

Not always. Faces need to be visible and clear enough. Check results before relying on them.

Does it upload students’ photos?

Not to search them. Only what you share by link goes online, and face data stays on your computer. Check your school’s policy before sharing.

Can it cull a game down to the best shots?

Not by itself. Sift finds photos and clears exact copies. It doesn’t rate which frame is sharpest.

What does it cost?
